Who is responsible

What the app holds

The app runs on the organiser's phone. It holds the club's venues, the anglers' names, and for each match the draw, every weight taken, the signature given for it, the placings and the pools. All of it is on the phone. There is no server copy unless the organiser shares or publishes.

Signing in

When a club pays, an account is made from the email address given at payment and the club's name. Payment details are held by Stripe, not by us. Signing in sends a six digit code to that email; the code lasts ten minutes and is then deleted. The phone is given a licence that carries the club's name, the email and the date the year runs to. There are no passwords.

Sharing a match

When an organiser hands out codes, the match and its weighs are sent to a server run for Metic State on Netlify so that stewards' phones and the organiser's phone can exchange them. Nobody joins that server with a name or an email; a code is enough. Each match, its weighs, its codes and the tokens issued for it are kept for sixty days from the day the match was put up, then deleted. The server refuses more than twenty matches an hour and thirty code attempts in ten minutes from one address, and records the address for that purpose only, in windows that are deleted when they close.

Publishing

When an organiser publishes a result to The Frame, the placings, names, pegs and weights, and any winner photo taken in the app, are sent to The Frame under the organiser's account there and become public on The Frame. The Frame has its own privacy notice and takedown route, and a name can be hidden there per placing.

Anglers

Anglers do not sign in and are not asked for anything. A club enters names because it needs to record who weighed what, which it does on paper today. A winner photo is only kept if the organiser confirms that everyone in it agreed to it being published, and for anyone under eighteen that a parent or carer agreed.

Exports and deletion

The organiser can export every match as a spreadsheet and as a full record, and delete any match from the phone. Deleting a match from the phone does not delete a copy already shared to the server, which expires on its own, or a result already published to The Frame, which is removed through The Frame.

Your rights

Anyone whose name appears in a shared or published match can ask what is held, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be removed, by emailing info@meticstate.co.uk. A request about a published result is passed to The Frame's takedown route.
